چکیده
Abstract Background The entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs), especially in the 2 families Steinernematidae and Heterorhabditidae, are important biocontrol agents against insect pests. leaf miners (Fam.: Agromyzidae) cosmopolitan There more than 330 Liriomyza spp. including 20 species that have been reported as economically pests of field crops, ornamentals vegetables. house flies serious for human animals. More 100 animal diseases associated with flies. Mushroom (phorid sciarid families) among main arthropod affecting cultivation mushroom throughout world. Results Virulence EPNs differed clearly even on same and/or by nematode species. Such differences might be attributed to method treatment, age stage well concentrations tested nematodes. Laboratory studies revealed proved moderate highly virulent larvae percentage mortality reached 100%. As pupae, some their or high susceptibility nematodes, whereas others showed low resistance infection. Treated adults, those emerged from treated also susceptible Conclusion virulence 3 dipteran families. Semi-field trials indicated they could successfully reduce populations insects without affect others.

متن کاملA quantitative comparison of micro-CT preparations in Dipteran flies
X-ray-based 3D-imaging techniques have gained fundamental significance in research areas ranging from taxonomy to bioengineering. There is demand for the characterisation of species-specific morphological adaptations, micro-CT (μCT) being the method of choice in small-scale animals. This has driven the development of suitable staining techniques to improve absorption-based tissue contrast. A qu...
متن کاملNew diets for production of house flies and stable flies (Diptera: Muscidae) in the laboratory.
A diet for rearing the house fly, Musca domestica (L.), was developed from feed constituents available on a year-round basis in Gainesville, FL. The diet, called the Gainesville House Fly Diet, performed as well or better than the Chemical Specialties Manufacturers' Association fly larval medium (CSMA) and can be mixed, bagged, and delivered by a local feed mill within 3 d. By adding pelleted p...
متن کاملFlybrella: a device to attract and kill house flies.
Flybrella is a lightweight inexpensive trap that can be suspended like an upside-down umbrella in prominent locations where house flies, Musca domestica L., rest. It consists of a solid, cylindrical backbone to which is attached a perforated transparent tube, or baffle, with a commercial sugar/toxicant strip affixed inside. Centered directly beneath the tube and also attached to the backbone is...
